Tamon-dori is said to have taken its name from the childhood name of Masashige Kusunoki, the enshrined deity of MInatogawa-jinjya (shrine), "Tamon-maru." In the early Showa period, there was Tamon-za, Kobe's premier entertainment district and the best theater in town.
This color reproduces and expresses the astringent purple, which is the color of zabuton used on the stage of the theater, with ink. (Zabuton = Japanese cushion)
